ELIZABETH JOY KOLENO
1955-2021
Elizabeth Joy "Betty" Koleno (Beavers) passed away on Christmas Eve at the age of 66.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Michael (Julia), Andrew (Nicole), Daniel (Jessica) and Mary (Weston); beloved “Grammy” to Cecelia, Nelson, Ida, Holden, Luke, Gwendolyn, Keegan, Beau, Lincoln and Gibson Koleno; loving sister to Mary Ann (Dennis) Senko, Carol Beavers and Kathleen (Dennis) Dewart and to brothers John, McDonald and Royce (Gina); and many special nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Michael and her beloved parents Royce and Majorie Beavers along with infant brother Robert.
Elizabeth attended Ludwig grade school and Lockport High School where graduated in 1973. She went on to later work at Western Electric where she would meet her husband Michael. The couple were married at St. Joseph church in 1979 and lived in Downers Grove before moving back to Lockport.
After moving to Lockport, Betty and Michael welcomed four wonderful children to their family. Her children remember their mother as a wonderful person who taught them about leading a selfless and humble life steeped in a deep love and affection for family and friends. Elizabeth was a dedicated parishioner and avid volunteer at St. Dennis Parish/School (Lockport).
In 1992 Elizabeth returned to the workforce as a Dean’s Office assistant at Lockport Central High School. Her infectious smile and genuine personality quickly made her a favorite of both high school staff and students. She worked at LTHS for 29 years and formed many of our most beloved friendships with those that she worked with.
Later in life Elizabeth took great pride in being a dedicated grandmother to her 10 grandchildren. She took in countless sports events, gymnastics practices and swimming meets in an effort to cheer on her beloved grandchildren. Her presence will be sorely missed by those who looked up to her and knew her best as “Grammy”.
Memorial services will be held on January 3, 2022 at St. Dennis Church at 10:00 A.M. Guests will be required to show proof of vaccination when arriving at the church.
